Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares began training camp with high hopes for this season. After having to overcome a horrific injury suffered the year before, Tavares was finally able to put in a full summer of work to get into shape.
However, it hasn't started off right so far. Tavares wasn't seen at practice today, and his absence was noted by multiple members of the media, and it didn't take the Leafs long to confirm what they feared.
Luke Fox of Sportsnet provided the following information:
''Oblique strain will sideline John Tavares for a minimum of three weeks.''
This isn't the first time that Tavares will miss time due to an oblique injury, as Fox also stated:
''Tavares also dealt with an oblique injury in May of 2019 that needed a month's recovery and caused him to miss the world championships.''
