The Blues already traded Vladimir Tarasenko to the Rangers, and have made other forwards available, including Ryan O'Reilly, Ivan Barbashev and Noel Acciari. According to Andy Strickland of Bally Sports, Don Sweeney has inquired about at least one of them:
Barbashev, 27, has 24 points in 52 games this season, but is coming off a career-high 26 goals and 34 assists a season ago. He carries a cap hit of $2.25 million that expires at the end of this season.
Jim Montgomery has history with Barbashev, too, as he was assistant coach for the Blues prior to coming to Boston. He would know where to perfectly slot the middle to top six winger in.
