The NHLPA was originally formed by Ted Lindsay back in 1957 after the league refused to release the financial info for the players pension plans.

And ever since, the association has been heavily involved with NHL players and any financial dealings with the league.

However, the NHLPA may be in big trouble according to TSN's Rick Westhead. As they are allegedly being sued for upwards of $100 million.

As per Westhead:

'Richard Rodier, who once worked with Jim Balsillie to try and buy an NHL team, alleges in a new lawsuit that NHLPA officials inappropriately used confidential information he provided to the union.''

Westhead continued:

''Former NHLPA consultant Richard Rodier has filed a $100M lawsuit against his former employer, alleging it misused his confidential info to pursue claims that NHL teams underreported revenue, which allowed them to pay players less money.''

Westhead has been a major reason several big stories are heard, including the Kyle Beech vs Chicago Blackhawks case, and the multiple sexual assault allegations against Hockey Canada.
