It all started in game four when Brad Marchand got into a scrum with DeAngelo at the end of the first period. Although the exact words that were said haven't been confirmed, everyone who can somewhat read lips knows that Marchand was calling DeAngelo a "Racist."
It all stems from DeAngelo's past of being suspended from junior hockey for violating the league's policy covering "homophobic, racist, and sexist language" and abuse of officials. Altercations with teammates with the New York Rangers also seen him put on waivers a season after being a top-scoring defenseman in the NHL.
It ended with DeAngelo throwing his stick towards Marchand when he had a breakaway and an empty-net score into:
DeAngelo didn't make things better for himself when he took a shot at Bruins fans for basically no reason the next day. He stated that PNC Arena in Raleigh is "a much louder building than in Boston" and that the only fans that Boston has are the media that covers the team.
Well, you know Bruins fans didn't forget that come game six back in Boston:
And as the clock was winding down for a Bruins' win to force game seven. The Boston crowd at TD Garden wasn't going to let Tony DeAngelo leave without serenading him one last time with the chant, "F*** YOU, TONY!"
