The Buffalo Sabres are very close to being done with their second straight rebuild. With recent high draft picks, the club has stocked up on several promising prospects.

It could be a safe bet to say that within a few years, the Sabres should be a playoff team. For now, however, they have to focus on the development of their prospects, beginning with maybe their best, defenseman Owen Power.

And veteran teammate Kyle Okposo recently shared some very high praise for the youngster ahead of training camp:

''He's got a lot of a young Erik Karlsson in him Owen has similarities in how he plays.''

As many Boston Bruins fans would know, Erik Karlsson was one of, if not the best, defensemen in the NHL over the last decade as the Bruins and Ottawa Senators have battled it out in the Atlantic Division.

A young Karlsson was one of the most offensively dominant defensemen in the league during his prime. With the Senators, the Swede recorded four years with 70-plus points and a career-high 82.

Power has shown his offensive game too. In 33 games last season with the University of Michigan, he produced at nearly a point-per-game pace, recording 29 points.
