The Boston Bruins matched NHL history on Tuesday night when they collected win number 40 in the 53rd game of the season.

However, the club has struggled in the last little stretch of the schedule, as they went 1-3-1 in the five games before last night in Dallas.

Even though the team is still sitting first in the league with a 40-8-5 record, there's been one glaring hole in the lineup. That being Jake Debrusk.

YouTuber Max Mainville (@tkdmaxbjj on Twitter) recently shared the telling stats of the Bruins with and without DeBrusk in the lineup this season.

#NHLBruins Before DeBrusk Injury:

29-4-4, .838% (1st)
3.73 GF/GP (2nd)
2.16 GA/GP (1st)
27.0% PP (6th)

Since DeBrusk Injury:

10-4-1, .700% (4th)
3.53 GF/GP (8th)
2.00 GA/GP (1st)
16.7% (24th)

Coincidence?

DeBrusk, 26, had 16 goals and 14 assists in 36 games prior to his injury on January 2nd, and the team has somewhat struggled as a whole since.

Although, the sample sizes aren't the same (smaller without), one stat that stands out is the power play. After Tuesday's game against the Stars, the Bruins are 7 for 45 since DeBrusk's injury, including 0 for their last 19 attempts.

It's possible that DeBrusk could return tonight as Boston continues their road trip against the Nashville Predators.
