The Boston Bruins have released a statement on the passing of Johnny Gaudreau and brother Matthew Gaudreau this morning.

A rumour that was started last night about the passing of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, sadly was confirmed this morning by the Columbus Blue Jackets, the NHL, and New Jersey police.

Fans last night took to X (twitter) and hoped nothing more than for this just to be a rumour and to not be true. Unfortunately the rumour was true, and it was confirmed both the Gaudreau's brothers were hit while on bicycles by a drunk driver.

The Boston Bruins had this to say about the passing of the brothers:

"The Boston Bruins are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.

The Gaudreaus will forever be a part of the Boston hockey community thanks to the incredible impact they made as student athletes on and off the ice at Boston College.

We send our support and condolences to their family, friends, teammates, the Calgary Flames, ano the Columbus Blue Jackets."

Ever since the news has been released there has been a sad and eerie feeling among the hockey community.

This news is chilling, and we never like to report stuff like this. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Gaudreau family. May they Rest in Peace.
