Kailer Yamamoto was reportedly on the Boston Bruins radar, and the Bruins were rumoured to possibly be signing him to a PTO, but a team beat them to it.
It was just announced that the Utah Hockey Club has signed Kailer Yamamoto to a PTO.
Yamamoto showed flashes that he could be good in the NHL one day, especially during his first year in the NHL where he had 26 points in 27 games. After that his best year was almost a full year in the NHL where he put up career highs in both goals and assists, scoring 20 goals and, 21 assists for 41 points in 81 games.
In 2022-23 the Oilers gave him another chance to live up to the hype of being drafted in the first-round of the NHL Entry Draft, but will ultiamtely fail, and the Oilers would trade him to the Red Wings where he would get bought out.
After being bought out the Seattle Kraken took a chance with him and signed him to a one-year deal, and ultimately that didn't workout either having 16 points, in 59 games.
This may be Yamamoto's last shot in the NHL, and Utah has plenty of cap space to sign him to a deal if they like what they see from him. They currently have $9.92 million in cap space per PuckPedia.
