Mitch Marner Made Unexpected Comments About Most Hated Rival In Bruins Brad Marchand
Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner made some unexpected comments regarding his teammate Brad Marchand following their win at the Four Nations Faceoff against Team Sweden.
Both Brad Marchand and Mitch Marner played a big factor in Team Canada winning their opening game against Sweden as they both scored, but Marner's goal was a bit bigger as he scored the game winner for the Canadians in overtime.
Mitch Marner's overtime winner was an absolute snipe of a goal set up by no one other than Sidney Crosby.
Marchand, and Marner also played a big role for team Canada, being paired together on the penalty kill despite them being rivals in the National Hockey League.
Mitch Marner speaks highly about hated rival Brad Marchand
After the game, Marner spoke on what it was like being on a penalty kill with Brad Marchand, and he had some unexpected words when speaking about him.
"It was only one [penalty] kill tonight, but it went really well. Brad's a hell of a penalty killer -- I've known that for a long time. You saw what he did at the last World Cup. He's very vocal out there, and so am I, so we can work off each other really well, which is something you appreciate. We both have great instincts and are quick on our feet. We didn't have to defend too much in our zone on that one, but we were communicating, figuring things out, and that's what you like to see."
Marchand and Marner are involved in one of the biggest rivals in the entire NHL, and hearing him say that feels surreal, but it's become clear that they have united together to represent their Nation, and that they both have an insane amount of respect for each other.
Heading into their first game against the United States of American, Canada made a big change, putting Brad Marchand on a line with Sam Bennett, and Seth Jarvis.
Again, despite their teams being rivals and the playoffs playoffs last year when Sam Bennett sucker punched Marchand, it seems they are setting their differences aside to represent their country.
