It's still hard to swallow the fact that Johnny Gaudreau has passed, and the hockey community is still mourning the loss of him and his brother Matthew. Last Thursday both brothers were killed by a drunk driver while they were out on their bikes, getting ready for their sisters wedding.
The hockey community has been super supportive and have sent their thoughts and prayers out to the Gaudreau family and friends. Many fans are also trying to find ways to honour the Gaudreau family.
David Alter, a NHL reporter stated on social media that the NHL should change the name of the Lady Byng and rename it after the late Johnny Gaudreau.
Gaudreau won this trophy one time in his career back in 2017, and it would be a nice way to honour him as it is awarded to the player with the best sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct.
Renaming this after Gaudreau would bring some meaning back to the trophy, and would be a nice way to honour the Gaudreau family.
