The Boston Bruins have handed two-time Stanley Cup Champion, Tyler Johnson to a professional tryout contract.

There is less than three weeks until the Boston Bruins start up their training camp, and there are still a lot of free agents in the league. Last night the Boston Bruins took one of those players off the board by signing Tyler Johnson to a professional tryout.

Tyler Johnson made a name for himself with the Tampa Bay Lightning after going undrafted, the 34-year old would sign with the Lightning in 2011 and would go on to win two Stanley Cup's in back to back years when the Lightning won it in 2020 and 2021.

Johnson will bring more veteran leadership and playoff experience to the Boston Bruins lineup, and won't slow the team down like most other veteran players.

Per PuckPedia the Boston Bruins still have just over $8 million left, and that is more than likely to be spent on starting goaltender Jeremy Swayman who is still left without a contract.

The Bruins might have to look at a trade if the rumours of Jeremy Swayman wanting $10 million on his next contract is true.
