David Krejci speaks to the media for the first time since signing
Newly signed David Krejci met with the media for the first time this afternoon via Zoom. The veteran made the Boston Bruins reunion official with a one-year, $3 million contract on Monday, August 8th.
Krejci started by giving credit to two current Bruins players for helping make his decision much easier:
''I have to give credit to Bergy and Pasta. We had so many conversations the last few months about coming back or not. They're the reason I wanna go back and play with those guys again.''
''I obviously wanted to be back here this year with [Pastrnak] on this team. I know after this season, he's a free agent. After that, it's up to him and his decision. We haven't talked about that. He and Bergie were a big part in my decision [coming back to Boston].''

And when he decided to officially make his return to Boston:
''The decision was made a few weeks before (Monday's signing). ... We decided to go back to the NHL.''

The speculation surrounding the Patrice Bergeron extension and Krejci return was because of the firing of former head coach Bruce Cassidy and that the two only returned because he was now gone.
Krejci confirmed those reports:
''That would be a good story if I said yes. But my decision was made before they hired the new coach. The firing of Butchy had nothing to do with me coming back.''
The longtime Bruins stated that playing with current Bruin and fellow Czech native David Pastrnak at the World Championships was the turning point for him wanting to come back to Boston.
''I feel like I have a lot to offer, still. All you care about is the team's success. And that's why I'm coming back. ... I want to play with those guys and make a push with those guys.''
