Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney met with the media this morning to discuss the recent moves made by the organization.

One of the main points was the signings of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.

With the Bruins now around $2.2 million over the cap, Sweeney was asked if they have a plan:

''I hope we've done the math. We have some mechanisms to get under the cap, whether that's a trade or waivers.''

The most significant talking point during his media coverage was the ongoing contract extension talks with forward David Pastrnak. Almost two months ago, Sweeney stated they would be very aggressive in getting a deal done.

''I don't publicly comment on negotiations. Conversations are ongoing. As far as entering the season without a deal, we have no problem with it.''

''Ongoing would be the best way to describe it. We've been in regular contact with JP. We've made our intentions known all along to David, and we'll continue to do that.''
