The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to the game.

All 32 teams nominate one player, as voted by his teammates, to have a chance to win the award. This season the Boston Bruins nomination is Jake DeBrusk.

It's been a whirlwind of a season for the Edmonton, Alberta native, who openly requested a trade back in November but promised to play the best he could while he was still a Bruin. Nobody expected him to still be with the team by this point, but he is, and he has even worked his way up to the first line with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, and he has been one of Boston's best players for the last month or so.

DeBrusk addressed the media this morning to discuss his nomination:

"I was actually a little surprised. I didn't know that was going on or anything like that. I got a text from my mom actually about it. But it's obviously something I'm very thankful for, and it's one of those things that you look at the names on there and on the list and have a lot of respect for what those guys have done and obviously what's happening."

DeBrusk also discussed what it's like to play on the top line with Marchand and Bergeron and how the change from left-wing to right-wing has gone. Listen to his full media coverage below:
