The Boston Bruins fell behind to the Carolina Hurricanes 1-0 again in game three. Making it all three games that the Hurricanes have scored the first goal of the game.
The team that scores first in an NHL game is most likely going to win. Just for reference, in the 2022 playoffs, there will have been 20 total games played after Friday night's action. Only twice has a team that not scored first has won the game so far, and one of those teams was the Boston Bruins tonight against the Hurricanes. (The other was the Pittsburgh Penguins' triple-overtime win over the New York Rangers).
Bruins forward Brad Marchand touched on what made it possible for the club to gain back momentum after giving up the first goal once again this evening:
"When JD [Jake Debrusk] and CC [Charlie Coyle] made that play shorthanded to get us back in the game, it just changed our whole demeanour. We've kind of been playing catchup all series, and it felt good to know that we can come back in those situations, and we can respond the way we have in the past."
