The Boston Bruins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes in game three to get their first win of the best-of-seven series. The Bruins won on the work of some excellent special teams work from both ends of the ice.

The Bruins' powerplay scored twice on their five opportunities, while the kill was perfect in killing all penalties the team took. Boston also scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game at one late in the first period. The penalty kill stood out, and it was led by PK specialist Derek Forbort, who had nine blocks in 6:45 of shorthanded time on ice.

Bruce Cassidy had some praise for the defenseman after the game:

"If you look at the shot blocked column from some of our guys, to me, those are the unsung heroes. Guys, that worked really, really hard to keep the puck out of our net. Like Forbort, for example, he really showed his value tonight."

Cassidy went on the describe what guys like Forbort mean to the locker room:

"He's a popular guy. He is very quiet, doesn't say much, talks about him and his dog, his simple life, but he's got personality when you get to know him. Guys root for guys like that. He was brought in to be that type of stay-at-home... stiff defender, keep the puck out of your net, shot blocker, really good on the PK, and he's been as advertised."

Cassidy also discussed the powerplay coming through and what he thought of rookie goaltender Jeremy Swayman's first career playoff start. Watch his full media coverage below:
