The Bruins traveled to Seattle for the first time in franchise history when they took on the Kraken back on February 24.
Frashly landed in a city they had never played in before, some of the boys decided to go sight-seeing in the Emerald City. Naturally, they quickly gravitated to the historical fish market where the flinging of fish technique has grown popular over the years.
Have a look at how both Connor Clifton and Trent Frederic did with their very first fish toss:
Pretty soft hands for the first-timers!
According to the Seattle Times, the now famous flying-fish ritual apparently began when a former worker started counting the number of steps it took for him to pick up a customer's selection, walk around to the backdoor, hustle over to the scales where the merchandise is weighed, cut and packaged, and then walk back around to the front with the wrapped package.
The worker calculated that it took close to 100 steps for him to fill an order... 100 steps and precious time he could save by simply tossing the fish over the counter!
Current employees will occasionally let visitors in on the fun, allowing a bystander or a customer to either throw or catch a fish. As you saw above, there's a real technique behind the fling!
