Surprising Trade Strikes The NHL Following Recent Announcement
In a recent development, the Minnesota Wild have engaged in a trade, acquiring defenseman Will Butcher from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The exchange involved sending forward Maxim Cajkovic to the Penguins, marking a strategic move for both teams.
Butcher, a seasoned defenseman, has spent the current season with the Penguins' AHL affiliate, Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, amassing three goals and seven points in 14 games. However, his NHL appearances have been scarce since the 2021-22 season with the Buffalo Sabres.
Notably, Butcher's initial NHL breakthrough in 2017-18, where he tallied five goals and 44 points in 81 games with the New Jersey Devils, set a promising tone.
Despite subsequent fluctuations in his performance and stock, this trade signals a new chapter for the 29-year-old defenseman.
