That is according to 32 TP's Elliotte Friedman, and according to the NHL Insider, the Boston Bruins could be the frontrunner for the center.
Since the retirement of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, the Bruins have had holes in their depth chart. Pavel Zacha, Charlie Coyle and Morgan Geekie were stopgaps, but cannot be the top-line center, the Bruins need them to be.
While the three centers had career-years in Boston they were unable to get the job done, but performed above expectations for many.
All the while, GM Don Sweeney has had his sights on Elias Lindholm and was reported to try to make a deal for Lindholm at the trade-deadline, unsuccessfully.
The team remains interested in Lindholm's future and hope to land him in free-agency come July 1st.
Lindholm was traded to the Vancouver Canucks from the Calgary Flames in February as his production was sluggish for the Center whose performed exceptionally well in past years.
He had much more impact on the Canucks playoff run scoring 10 points( 5 G, 5 A) in 13 games during the teams playoff run.
It appears his time in Vancouver is over, as the Canucks deal with financial issues and with GM Patrik Allvin wanting to address other needs of the team first.
Lindholm will get a raise wherever he ends up, as the 2nd best center behind Steven Stamkos during free agency.
Lindholm's $29.1 Million contract he signed with the Calgary Flames in 2018 has just expired and was playing at a discount $4.85 Million AAV and could be due $8 Million AAV for his next deal.
