With the Connor Bedard era entering season two, the Blackhawks will once again be busy during the off-season in order to stay competitive.
They could end up trading these two players, as the Blackhawks lineup continues to maintain depth.
GM Don Sweeney and the Bruins could afford to see if either player would be a fit in the Bruins system, as of course you never know what will happen in the off-season.
If Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks don't make it to the post-season, they could move Alec Martinez at the trade deadline. The veteran is a three-time Staney Cup winner, and when he signed his one-year deal with the Blackhawks, his contract doesn't include trade protection.
The 37-year old, could prove to be a significant improvement to the Bruins thin blueline, and add leadership qualities after four years in Vegas, following his arrival in Chicago.
The Bruins might have to give up a trade pick for Martinez, but he'd be a great depth addition.
Athanasiou only appear in 28 games with the Blackhawks last season, scoring 9 points(2 G, 7 A) and is known as a speedy skater. He's currently on the Hawks books at $4.25 Million AAV, without a no-trade clause. Either way if the Blackhawks see the post-season or not, he could end up being a trade piece. While this season saw a regression, the season prior with the Hawks saw him post 20 goals, and could provide the Bruins some secondary scoring.
