2X Stanley Cup Champion Brandon Saad Took A Shot At The Bruins When Revealing Why He Didn't Sign There
Brandon Saad, a former 2x Stanley Cup Champion took a shot at the Boston Bruins organization when he was speaking on why he chose not to sign with the organization.
Last week Brandon Saad officially had his contract terminated by the St. Louis Blues, and ended up signing with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Saad clears...all eyes on Vegas: 1 x $1.5M prorated, I believe
The Boston Bruins were reportedly interested in signing Saad according to multiple reports, but ultimately chose Vegas.
Elliotte Friedman revealed that Saad ended up turning down multiple offers from contending teams.
"The Devils, Senators and Maple Leafs also were among those who went hard for Brandon Saad, as did Tampa Bay. Can't fault Saad for picking Vegas, despite the team's current struggles."
Since joining the Vegas Golden Knights, Saad has scored one goal in two games with the organization, and has just 8 goals, 9 assists for 17 points this season in a total of 45 games.
The Golden Knights took advantage of his regression this season when signing him, and got him for a steal. The team officially announced that they signed him to a one-year, $1.5 million deal, after his contract was terminated where he was making $4.5 million in St. Louis.
Brandon Saad takes a shot at the Boston Bruins organization
Saad spoke about his reasoning for signing with the Vegas Golden Knights, and took a shot at the Bruins organization. Not directly, but he stated that he wanted to go to a contender to have a chance to win another Stanley Cup, and felt like he had the best chance to do so in Vegas.
«I think, for me, just being able to go to a contender and a chance to win another Cup (was exciting),» Saad said. «I've played against Vegas for a lot of years. They have tremendous talent, depth, good coaching, a great city. They kind of got it all. For me, I'm excited to be a part of that culture.»
