With NHL Insider Kevin Weekes dropping a bomb that several NHL teams were interested in winger Trent Frederic, the speculation has increased tenfold.

. Despite a sluggish start this season-with just three points and a -8 rating in 13 games-his physical style of play, size, and previous offensive production are appealing. Frederic's rugged play has made him a key contributor defensively, evident from his team-leading 41 hits. Analysts are closely monitoring his performance as trade talks intensify, prompted by the Bruins' rocky start to the season.

It's normal in a news cycle, as pundits, former players, and media personalities share their opinion. With Frederic, the next team to acquire him would need a solid physical player on the bottom six, which could likely mean a contending team.

Or those whose team is lacking in meaningful depth, one who could be a buyer could be GM Chris McFarland of the Colorado Avalanche. The team is bogged down in injuries which, mirrors how badly the Chicago Blackhawks were last season.

The forward depth is thin, and missing Captain Gabriel Landeskog. But Frederic would fit anywhere up and down Bednar's system, as he's proven he can turn players who were cast-outs into winners.

Freddy could land in Colorado, but do they have the assets to move for him?

Minnesota Wild

Bill Guerin currently is in charge of the NHL team in the state of hockey, which hasn't been a winning combination lately. Since Dean Evason's exit, the team hasn't looked that great, other than Kirill Kaprizov.

Under John Hynes, they have pulled their head above water, with an 8-2-2 record, and could use Frederic as a way of upgrading their forward core.

Frederic could provide a scoring option, and play the role that Marcus Foligno provided in 2021-2022, a power-forward with skill.

Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings could be another team whose interested in Frederic. If you take a look at their bottom six, adding Frederic to the same line as Alex Laferriere could provide the Kings with enough depth to roll four lines of scoring on the ice once Alex Turcotte returns from injury.

The team is currently 8-3-3 in the regular NHL season and will look to add talent and continue their dominance of the Pacific with Jim Hiller as bench boss.
