A devastating death of a former Boston Bruins forward is announced
The Boston Bruins and the rest of the hockey world today mourn the passing of a former Hockey Canada executive.
Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun was told by Hockey Canada that Murray Costello has passed away at age 90 today. Costello was a former NHL player for the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, and Detroit Red Wings.
While he didn't have an impressive 163-game NHL career, over 5 years, only scoring 32 points(13 G, 19 A) he did manage some time in the game.
He would truly find his calling in the front office as he was a top executive at Hockey Canada for two decades and earned a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 2005.
Hockey Canada's Statement:
Deeply saddened to learn that long-time executive Murray Costello, who led the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association and Hockey Canada as president for two decades, passed away Saturday at the age of 90, surrounded by his family.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Costello family, and all of the players impacted by Costello's influence on the sport.
