update on Boston Bruins member that took a unexpected leave of absence
Sophia Jurksztowicz is NESN's host for the Boston Bruins Broadcast and has become a fan favorite.
She joined NESN, coming from Sportsnet Toronto in 2019, and has been a staple in the studio since she arrived.
She's worked with hosts like Andy Brickley and recently signed an extension with NESN to keep her hosting duties, with the team and network.
However, her status was in question with fans who were concerned about her personal leave of absence.
She'd address this on Instagram to reassure fans everywhere that she is ok.
«This summer I signed a contract extension with NESN and I couldn't be happier to continue my journey as your Bruins host,» she wrote.
She has asked fans not to worry but has had to take this time for herself, before rejoining the broadcast.
«But due to personal reasons, I'm going to have to delay my season start with NESN and the team. I don't want anyone to worry, I WILL be okay, but right now I just need to take time away from work.
«I've received nothing but support from NESN with my circumstances and I seriously could not be more grateful to be working at NESN or more thankful for all the love from my teammates.
«It's only preseason, but I miss being at the rink already and I'm going to miss interacting with all of you too. You're the best fans in the world and you're my home away from home. I can't wait to be back. In the meantime, I'm always cheering.»
With Sportsnet in Toronto, she wore multiple hats, as host, producer, and reporter in 2019.
Jurksztowicz has worked with "Hockey Night In Canada" previously, Rogers Sportsnet, and the CBC News Network in Canada as well.
We hope Jurksztowicz finds solace and healing during her time away from the studio and are hopeful her return is when she's feeling great enough.
«The NESN team wishes Sophia well during this time and looks forward to having her back on Bruins' broadcasts when she is ready to return. In the interim, we ask that everyone respect Sophia's privacy.»
Adam Pellerin will step in on NESN's Bruins broadcast in Jurkszotwicz's absence.
The Bruins will play their opening night game on October 8th, against the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
