Lewis Gross is Jeremy Swayman's agent, and not only does he represent Swayman, but he also represents other high-end NHL talent, like William Nylander.

In Gross's negotiation tactics, this holdout isn't different than what we've seen before between Swayman and the Bruins.

Gross used a holdout with William Nylander in 2018, as a tactic to secure a contract between his talent, Nylander, and the Maple Leafs.

He would eventually sign with the Maple Leafs before the end of the December 1st deadline for a six-year, $6.9 Million AAV deal.

The extension, filed at 4:55 p.m., is subject to league approval.

Nylander will earn a $10 million salary with $2 million in bonuses for the remainder of the 2018-19 season, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie, meaning he'll count $10.2 million against the salary cap this year. The cap hit is reduced to $6.996 million starting in 2019-20.

Which means it worked as a tactic right? Kyle Dubas signed on the dotted line and gave in.

It seems like this is a trend with Gross though, as he'd also done this with Torey Krug.

However, if Gross is being honest with us, and $64 Million wasn't a deal offered to Swayman, this is a black eye on the Bruins front office.

While it's disheartening that both sides are literally taking shots at each other daily, the next question to contemplate is, is a separation between the two camps the next step?

Swayman already felt bad once, going through arbitration, so how will Swayman feel now that Sweeney and Neely are taking shots at him in public?

It is understood that Swayman may not have won a cup, but he did earn himself a raise and earned the starting goalie position in Boston.

But since Ullmark's trade, the Bruins management has behaved erratically, and there has to be a reason for a stalemate neither side is admitting to.

I'm sure we'll hear about it, in a 30 For 30 a decade from now, after the Bruins decide to trade him, or sign him and win a Stanley Cup.

But negotiating through public opinion, isn't the proper way to get a deal done by either side.
