Analyzing The Pros And Cons That Would Come If The Bruins Were To Acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois

Pierre-Luc Dubois has informed the Winnipeg Jets that he has no interest in returning. The soon to be 25-year-old has one season left on his contract and the Jets won't be able to sign him to a contract extension. The Boston Bruins could be looking into acquiring the almost 25-year-old center from the Winnipeg Jets, so with that said let's take a look at the pros and cons of bringing in PLD:

If the Bruins were to acquire PLD this offseason, they would also be getting his RFA rights as his contract still has one year left holding a $6,000,000 cap hit. So the Bruins would have to move even more cap space around or trade it away to other teams like the Jets.

Either the Bruins could use Pierr-Luc Dubois as a temporary and keep him for the 2023-24 season or sign him to an extension. Another route the Bruins could explore is a trade and sign, like the deal between the Blue Jackets and Devils on Sunday.

Pro:

Dubois is only 24 years old and is a solid player, he was fourth this year on the Jets team in point leaders with 63 points in 73 games which is a career high for him, but there is plenty of potential in him.

Dubois still hasn't hit the prime of his career and with the uncertainty around Bergeron and Krejci, adding Dubois who can play center wouldn't be a bad idea

Con:

He is a very toxic player, he's only been in the league for 6 years and he has already requested a trade from both teams that he has played on.

Adding onto that, it would probably cost the Bruins quite a bit to acquire Dubois which isn't ideal as there is a chance they go into a rebuild within the next 5 years.
