A scary scene just erupted in Buffalo involving ex-Boston Bruins defenseman as he laid unconscious on the ice after a massive hit.

It looked like Mike Reilly was going to have to be stretchered off of the ice after he hit his head from a massive hit and laid unconscious on the ice for awhile, but thankfully the stretcher was only brought out for precautionary reasons.

Midway through the game between the Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders Jordan Greenway threw a massive clean hit on Islanders defenseman Mike Reilly along the boards. Unfotunately after receiving the hit, Reilly hit his head on the ice, knocking him out.

Both teams respectively sent their training staff onto the ice to help the situation as it looked like it was going to be worse then what it probably is, as teams only normally send out their own training staff, and normally the other teams only comes out when a situation is dangerous or very serious.

The in-arena medical staff also brought out the stretcher for him, thankfully it did not have to be used in this situation.

After the trainers took a look at Reilly, they must have agreed that it wasn't as serious they originally thought, and agreed to let Reilly skate off with assistance to the locker room instead of leaving by stretcher.

There is obviously no update on his status as of right now, but once one is given we will make sure to share it.

Do you wish the Boston Bruins would have kept Mike Reilly?
