defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been making a statement for Team USA in their game against Team Canada early on as he laid multiple massive hits on Team Canada's Connor McDavid.

Everyone knew this game was going to be electric, there was a lot of hype building up to this game, and the start did not let fans down.

Team USA and Team Canada combined for three massive fights in the first nine seconds of the game, and it didn't stop there.

A bunch of players have been throwing their weight around, including Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy.

McAvoy has caught Connor McDavid with his head down multiple times this game, and absolutely sat him down.

The first hit was his biggest hit on McDavid, as he was coming down the boards with a lot of speed and then McAvoy laid him out with a massive hit along the boards.

Take a look:

McAvoy has thrown some heavy hits out of the gate

A Bruins insider has called out Charlie McAvoy following these types of hits he's made during the game vs Team Canada, as he can be a big physical player when he wants to be, and it's something the Boston Bruins need in their lineup.

THIS is the Charlie McAvoy BOS needs more often than not. Can be such a mean opponent to play against when he wants to be. His *impact* hit physicality has lessened a bit as his career has gone on, and he still very much has the ability. This hit changed momentum.

McAvoy has been making a difference for Team USA this game, giving them a bunch of momentum and playing solid defense.

Hopefully McAvoy can transition this into the regular season after the Four Nations is over.
