The Boston Bruins are eyeing down a trade with an original six rival according to a report.

Things have not gone as planned so far this season for the Boston Bruins as they currently sit with a record of 20-15-4, but are in third place in the Atlantic Division. This is mainly due to a lot of teams playing poor brands of hockey.

One good thing for the Bruins this year is that they have turned their season around after a horrible start to the season. After firing Jim Montgomery and hiring Joe Sacco as interim head coach, the Bruins are now sitting in a playoff spot.

Because the Bruins have been sitting in a playoff spot, the Bruins are more then likely going to be buyers at the trade deadline this season once again.

With that being said, the Boston Bruins have been linked to a trade with an Original Six rival in the Montreal Canadiens. Reportedly the Bruins could be eyeing down Canadiens forward Jake Evans.

The 28-year-old is having a career year with the Montreal Canadiens this year. in 37 games he has recorded 10 goals, and 23 points while playing a depth role on a subpar Montreal Canadiens team.

After posting these numbers, he seems like a good fit for the Boston Bruins who have been struggling to find depth scoring this year.

Currently, the Bruins have Trent Frederic centering the third line, but Frederic isn't their ideal center, as he plays better on the wing and that has been proven as since he has been moved to center he has not registered a point in 10 games.

Acquiring Evans could give the Bruins a big boost to the third line that they need. Evans is also a solid defensive player, and could give them a different option on their power play which has been struggling all year.

Jake Evans is set to be a unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, and will more then likely be traded by the Canadiens who are still trying to rebuild. The Boston Bruins should make a major push to acquire him if he does become available at the trade deadline.
