The Boston Bruins hope to stay relevant when the playoff discussion comes around, even with a 20-14-4 record, and 3rd in the Atlantic Division they could be buyers in March. The team could end up trading two young players, Trent Frederic and Fabian Lysell to improve the lineup.

The Boston Bruins and GM Don Sweeney have been perennial playoff contenders, and won the President's Trophy in 2022-2023, with Jim Montgomery.

Fast forward to 2024-2025, and the team has had to come from behind and keep the season alive.

That involved firing Jim Montgomery and hiring Joe Sacco. And this couldn't be the last move the Bruins make, as they could trade forwards Fabian Lysell, and Trent Frederic.

Trent Frederic

Frederic has been a disappointment this season, scoring 11 points( 5 G, 6 A) in 38 games with the Bruins. This is a disappointing decline from last year which saw him score 40 points( 18 G, 22 A).

The Bruins and Frederic have yet to come to terms on a contract and is a pending UFA at the end of this season.

If the team were to lose Frederic for a bag of pucks, it would be a tough loss as the team would be losing a gritty forward, and a depth scoring option. Without assets to recoup, GM Don Sweeney will have essentially failed if he doesn't make a deal with the interest surrounding the forward.

If there is a lot of interest in Frederic, and the Bruins can get a good return for him, it would not be too surprising to see him dealt. In addition, he could be a solid piece for the Bruins to add to a trade package to upgrade their forward group.

Fabian Lysell

The team could also deal first-round selection Fabian Lysell, who has plenty of upside to offer a rebuilding team.

Lysell was selected 21st overall in the 1st round of the 2021 NHL draft and has been a staple in the P-Bruins lineup.

Lysell, 21, could generate interest from sellers, as he is a former first-round pick with solid upside. He is having a decent season with the Providence Bruins, posting five goals and 17 points in 26 games. He also has seven points over his last six games with the AHL squad.

Lysell has played the last three seasons in Providence and has earned himself a call-up in the NHL in our opinion. If GM Don Sweeney isn't going to give him a shot, he should be dealt for assets which will continue the team's ongoing philosophy of buying talent in order to win a Stanley Cup.

Since the team doesn't develop talent like it used to(Marchand, Bergeron, etc.).

Which of these Bruins players would you trade at the trade deadline in March?
