Bruins Trent Frederic issues a interesting statement Regarding Latest Trade Rumours
The Boston Bruins need to improve their top nine if we're being realistic. The team while 3rd in the Atlantic at the moment, could always afford to be better, and that means parting ways with important players, like Trent Frederic. He was asked about recent rumors surrounding him.
After a career year in 2023-2024, which saw him score 40 points, the Bruins were expecting him to continue his tear, into the 2024-2025 season.
But, after the team had run it back, this time with players like Elias Lindholm, Nikita Zadarov, and Joonas Korpisalo in tow the compete wasn't there.
Trent Frederic is one Bruins 1st-round pick, who has found himself as a regular in the lineup since the 2020-2021 shortened season.
He's provided a gritty presence, with upside as a goal-scoring talent for the team, and has failed to capitalize on the opportunity he's had this season.
Joe Sacco's opinion on the situation:
«Freddy's been fine. There's a lack of production, obviously. He hasn't scored in a while,» Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco said Monday.
«Freddy's biggest thing is he's gotta continue to start moving his feet, continue to move his feet when he's playing, and he has to be physical. I think that's a big component of his [game].
«When he's playing hard in the defensive zone, if he's battling down below the goal line, has his assignments defensively, finishing his checks when they're there, being hard on pucks, those types of things, that's when I think his game elevates.»
When he was asked about his name being mentioned in trade rumors that have been swirling recently, this is how he responded.
«I don't have Twitter, so I don't see it all,» Frederic said. «I saw something on Instagram a month or two ago, scrolling through and you see yourself. But other than that, I don't know.
I don't really focus on it too much. Like I said, I just take it day-by-day, just do my best, and I'm sure whatever happens will happen.»
There have been rumors that several teams including the Colorado Avalanche, New Jersey Devils, and other Stanley Cup contenders could be interested in the gritty forward, once the playoffs roll around.
Even if Frederic's production has cratered this season, his blend of size and snarl would be valued by a team looking to add a bit more heft to their forward corps ahead of the postseason - while his $2.3 million annual cap hit is also easier to absorb on the books when compared to several other trade chips.
Instead of making his concerns public, Frederic is focused on improving his game and pushing all trade rumors aside.

While Trent Frederic could be shipped to the West for a wealth of assets, it'd be ideal for the Bruins to find a way to extend Frederic, who could be due a raise from his current $2.3 Million AAV cap hit.
In 39 games, he's only scored 11 points( 5 G, 6 A) and could benefit from a fresh start. But what could GM Don Sweeney realistically receive for Frederic?
It's difficult to tell, but for now we will wait and see what happens.
