The Boston Bruins made a roster move the other day that could have led to something bigger for them after a former top five NHL Draft pick was placed on waivers.
The Boston Bruins shocked fans the other day after reassigning Fabian Lysell to the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League the day after making his NHL debut.
With that move being done, the Bruins opened up some cap space that they could have used to claim former top 5 draft pick Jesse Puljujarvi who was placed on the waiver wire by the Pittsburgh Penguins yesterday.
The Boston Bruins have been struggling to find a third line that connects well together and Puljujarvi could have been the missing piece to this.
Puljujarvi fits the Boston Bruins system perfectly. He is a big bodied player that throws his weight around, isn't afraid to go to the corners and dig for pucks, and has shown that he can produce in a depth position.
Now his fate with the Boston Bruins was just confirmed by Elliotte Friedman.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Boston Bruins and all 31 other teams opted not to claim Jesse Puljujarvi off of waivers, and he will now be reassigned to the American Hockey League after clearing waivers today.
Puljujarvi hasn't been given much of a chance this year with the Pittsburgh Penguins, as he has only appeared in 21 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but in those games he has 3 goals, 5 assists for 8 points while playing a depth role.
