Mason Lohrei has been a nice surprise for the Bruins ever since being called up last year. During the 2023-24 season, Mason Lohrei was moved back and forth between the American Hockey League and the NHL, but he impressed a lot of people during his time in the NHL even after only playing one full year in the AHL.
Last year, Lohrei appeared in 41 games for the Boston Bruins where would score 4 goals, have 9 assists for 13 points.
This year he made the NHL right out of training camp, and it looks like he will not be getting sent back down to Providence. Lohrei is already set to tie his career high of 13 points he set last year in 41 games, and he has only played 26 games so far this season.
It's clear that he belongs in the NHL with the Boston Bruins, but if they were to send him down to Providence, the Bruins would be at a major risk of losing him.
According to PuckPedia, Mason Lohrei has appeared in 70 NHL games now, and if the Bruins were to try and send him down, he would require to go through the waiver process where he would more than likely get claimed.
It doesn't seem like Lohrei would be getting send down anytime soon, or at all, but if the Bruins were to do it, they would be at a risk of losing him for free to another team.
The 6-foot-5, 220 LBS 23-year-old has been a major surprise for the Bruins, and it would shock many if the Bruins were to send him down.
