During the episode on Locked on Senators, Foligno gave the hosts several stories about his time with the Senators which included a moment when he was 19 years old and working with Alfredsson learning how to be an NHL player.
He explained how Alfredsson was his best captain he had ever played for. One story that seemed to resonate with Foligno was a day he went with Alfredsson to a local clothing store which had high end brands and realized how great it was to be an NHL player seeing the price tag that Alfredsson paid for one shirt and that his reaction was not looking at prices.
Foligno spent two years of his career with the Boston Bruins from 2021 through 2023. During that time, he had scored twelve goals with 27 assists for 39 points through 124 games. He was averaging around 12 minutes and 28 seconds of ice time as the Bruins were a balanced team.
It's certainly surprising to know that he feels that Alfredsson was his best captain even though he has played for several throughout his career. It would have been expected that Patrice Bergeron would have been the choice but to each their own.
He now seems settled with the Chicago Blackhawks as he had signed an extension with the team recently And continues to be part of their leadership group.
