The Boston Bruins have a two-game home stint in TD Garden this weekend. They will be facing two teams, who they share terrible statistics with.

The Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, and Pittsburgh Penguins all have terrible goal differentials in the NHL.

The only minor difference is the Bruins are 3rd in the Atlantic Division with a -18 goal differential.

The Bruins are 8-9-1 with the second-worst goal differential (minus-21) in the league. The Bruins also don't have a ton of high-quality assets to trade. Their prospect pool ranks among the league's worst.

Only slightly better than their rivals, the Monreal Canadiens who are 7th in the Atlantic Division, with a -21 goal differential. The team is currently in a rebuild, which could be their only excuse.

Or is it a matter of bad coaching? Either way, it's not looking good for Martin St. Louis.

While the Pittsburgh Penguins are a shell of their former selves, who are 8th in the Metropolitan Division, with a whopping -33 goal differential. Under former Stanley Cup-winning Head Coach Mike Sullivan.

The Penguins did end their losing streak against the Vancouver Canucks recently, but the Bruins aren't this bad:

Pittsburgh had lost eight of 10 and 14 of its last 18 games. Despite the win, the Penguins, who have the worst goal differential in the NHL, have still allowed at least four goals in seven of their last 11 games.

With the Boston Bruins under interim Coach Joe Sacco, the team should course correct soon, as they have tightened up on defense

In the last three games, the Bruins have only given up 4 goals to the Detroit Red Wings, and New York Islanders.

While they shut out the Utah Hockey Club.

So, the statistic is troubling for the club, they'll still need to dig themselves out of the hole from earlier in the season.
