The Bruins have been dealing with some injuries this season, and that's originally why Jordan Oesterle was called up to the NHL, but as the Bruins get healthier his duties are no longer needed, and he has been sent back down to Providence.
For Marc McLaughlin he was recalled after being on a tear down in Providence, and played in just one game for the Boston Bruins before being sent back down to Providence.
Fans are sceptical that the Bruins made these moves because they are set to make another roster move potentially involving either Merkulov, Poitras or Fabian Lysell, who have all earned another chance with the Boston Bruins.
Fabian Lysell has been finding his game in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins after a slow start. He is now up to 3 goals, 5 assists for 8 points in 15 games, and a lot of people within the organization has been impressed with his play of late.
For Poitras, he originally started the year with the Boston Bruins appearing in 14 games before being sent down to the Providence Bruins after the coaching staff and upper management was not impressed with his play. In those 14 games, Poitras had 1 goal, 3 assists for 4 points, and he hasn't really found his game in the AHL. In six games in the American Hockey League Poitras only has three points.
Merkulov has been one of the Bruins best players in the AHL and was even rewarded for it by being called up by the Bruins earlier in the year. Fans were frustrated when the Bruins ended up sending him back down as he was impressive during his time in the NHL and they feel like he earned his opportunity to stay with the team.
In 15 games with the Providence Bruins, Merkulov has 3 goals, 10 assists for 13 points in 15 games, and during his three appearances with the Boston Bruins, Merkulov ended up picking up one apple.
It will be interesting to see if one of these players end up getting called up ahead of the Bruins next game, or if the Bruins decide to go with someone else.
