Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco sent an interesting message to Fabian Lysell after being sent back down to Providence.
Fabian Lysell had his dreams come true with the Boston Bruins Saturday night when he made his NHL debut, but it was cut short as the Bruins reassigned him just a day later.
The former first-round pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Level Draft was called up by the Boston Bruins and would make his NHL debut 15 days after being drafted, and played an impressive first game.
The Boston Bruins hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets at TD Garden and beat them 4-0 just the day after losing to the Blue Jackets 6-2 at Nationwide Arena. Lysell had his family in attendance for the game, and the 21-year-old played a solid game being a plus-1 in 11:32 for the Bruins.
The day after making his NHL debut, the Boston Bruins sent Lysell back down the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League, but Joe Sacco had an interesting message for the 21-year-old.
«The message was that he didn't hurt his chances, obviously, for an opportunity at some point,» interim head coach Joe Sacco told reporters, per a team-provided video. «Played a good game, did some good things out there, was an opportunity for him to get his NHL game. He got it based on his play. It was based on merit. He's done a good job in Providence. I think the message is continue to build on your game. It did not hurt your chances for another opportunity here at some point.

Lysell has been having a good year for the Providence Bruins, scoring five goals, with 12 assists for 17 points in 26 games so far this season, and just before being recalled to the Boston Bruins he has started to get hot in the American Hockey League.
Lysell is going to get another chance with the Bruins this year, but for now he needs to focus on his game with the Providence Bruins.
