Boston Bruins head coach sent a strict, clear message to Charlie Coyle
The Boston Bruins demolished the San Jose Sharks 5-2 today, and are now 5th in the Atlantic Division. But there's some players who need to contribute to the team's success, Charlie Coyle. Joe Sacco had a word of advice for him.
Coyle hasn't been so much as a blip on the team's radar lately, as the last 5 games he's yet to take a shot on goal yet.
He has registered an assist in that time frame, but hasn't been able to contribute to the Bruins in a way that pushes the needle.
Last season, he played 82 games and scored 60 points( 25 G, 35 A ), and has fallen off the radar.
This year, he scored 15 points( 10 G, 5 A ) in 47 games. There needs to be a change in how Coyle approaches hockey.
And Joe Sacco needs Coyle to shoot the puck more.

To give you an idea, Coyle has shot the puck only 65 times this season. That equals to about 1.4 shots a game which for someone like Coyle who was on fire last season won't ever reach the same production if he continues this path.
While last season, he took 147 shots on goal over a period of 82 games and shot 1.8 shots a game, considerably more.
Sacco isn't wrong about the lack of production and in this case selfishness for Coyle who is currently a top-six winger for the Bruins.
But he doesn't act like it at all.
Fortunately for the Bruins, he scored two goals today against the San Jose Sharks, but he should take the advice of Sacco and could produce more goals.
It's a simple concept, but this season hasn't been great for the team, or Coyle.
If the Bruins are to regain their footing in the Atlantic Division and become playoff contenders they'll need Coyle to contribute on both ends of the ice.
