Jagr is making his return on the ice, and the twist is, he'll be playing for the team he owns, Rytři Kladno, in their upcoming clash against Pardubice today!
This unforeseen comeback also comes with a unique twist: Jagr will have to bide his time until 2027 for a shot at the Hockey Hall of Fame. In the upcoming game, he's set to share the second line with former New Jersey Devils prospect Jaromir Pytlik and the seasoned Czech-league forward Jakub Strnad.
Kladno is banking on Jagr's return to turn the tide, especially considering the team's current struggle, sitting at the 13th spot out of 14 teams in the top Czech league. With only four wins this season and a string of recent losses, Kladno is pinning its hopes on Jagr to bolster their scoring efforts.
Recognized as one of the NHL's greatest players, Jagr boasts an illustrious career with an impressive 1,921 points over 24 years the highest by any European player. He notched 15 seasons with at least 70 points, clinched the Art Ross Trophy five times, and achieved a career-high of 127 points in the 1998-99 season.
Jagr's success isn't confined to the NHL; he's excelled in Czech leagues as well, amassing 169 points in 169 games in the top league and 20 points in 28 games in the second division.
Mark your calendars for the showdown against Pardubice, scheduled for 12:00 PM ET. Kladno is crossing their fingers for their first victory against them this season.
