The Boston Bruins completed a move on January 13th that has paid off well for them.
January 13th the Boston Bruins ended up announcing a roster transaction, and recalled veteran forward Vinni Lettieri from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
Although fans have voiced their displeasure with the Bruins organization for not giving Georgii Merkulov or Fabian Lysell a chance with the Bruins, but Lettieri has definitely earned his spot with the Boston Bruins in the NHL.
This season, Lettieri has been excellent in the AHL with the Providence Bruins this season, he has a team leading 14 goals, 21 assists for 35 points in 35 games. He has easily been the best player for Providence this season, and has been making an impact in the NHL with the Boston Bruins.
In just his second game with the Boston Bruins, Vinni Lettieri would score his first NHL goal with the Bruins organization against the Ottawa Senators, and would follow that up by once again scoring in their next game against the San Jose Sharks.
In three games so far with the Bruins, Vinni Lettieri has collected two goals along with a plus-1 rating this season.
The Boston Bruins have desperately needed secondary scoring this season, and Lettieri has been a nice surprise, as he has been able to provide that so far since being recalled.
If he can keep this play up, there is a good chance he earns a full-time roster spot in the NHL when the Bruins get back to full health.
Another positive that Lettieri has been bringing to the Bruins lineup is the fact that he brings some extra physicality. In just three games so far he already has 10 registered hits, and had an impressive eight hits in their game against the San Jose Sharks.
