The Boston Bruins having announced a surprising roster move, and officially assigned a forward to the American Hockey League.

It did not take long for the Boston Bruins to make a roster move under Joe Sacco, as they announced a transaction today.

Today the Boston Bruins announced that they have assigned Jeffrey Viel to the Providence Bruins.

Take a look:

The Bruins have assigned Jeffrey Viel to Providence.

Jeffrey Viel seemed like a last ditch effort for the Boston Bruins under Jim Montgomery.

Viel known to be a fierce competitor, and an enforcer was called up to bring some energy to the Boston Bruins lineup.

Even though Viel did exactly that, it was not good as the Boston Bruins would end up losing 5-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Instead many believed that Matt Poitras should have been called up or Fabian Lysell due to the recent offensive struggle.

Although Viel during his game with the Bruins did bring energy for the Boston Bruins by laying some big hits and even dropping the gloves, but it wasn't enough.

There is also a rumour that Mark Kastelic is reportedly set to return to the Bruins lineup after missing a game with a lower-body injury.

Do you think this transaction was made because Mark Kastelic is set to return?
