The Toronto Maple Leafs, who have been the center of attention in the hockey world for nearly a week now, have initiated their search for a highly anticipated general manager to lead the iconic Original Six franchise.

During a recent episode of TSN's radio show First Up, former Leaf Carlo Colaiacovo suggested that Dallas Stars' current general manager, Jim Nill, could emerge as a prominent candidate for the position. Colaiacovo mentioned Nill's close relationship with Leafs president Brendan Shanahan from their time together in Detroit, adding that Nill's potential availability for an interview may coincide with the elimination of the Stars from the playoffs.

Nill spent 13 years in the NHL, 3 of those years and two seasons were spent with the Boston Bruins, will he be joining the dark side?

Shanahan emphasized in his concluding press conference last week that he was seeking an experienced candidate, particularly one who has worked with a team boasting numerous superstars. It is worth noting that Nill made noteworthy draft selections in 2017, including Miro Heiskanen, Jason Robertson, and Jake Oettinger, who have all become integral contributors in the Stars' recent journey to the Western Conference Finals, as highlighted by hockeypatrol.com

Nill aligns perfectly with the profile sought by Leafs' current general manager, Kyle Dubas. If Nill becomes available, he should undoubtedly rank among the top candidates on the Maple Leafs' radar as they continue their search for a new general manager.
