Heading into the off-season, general manager Don Sweeney will have eight unrestricted free agents on July 1st, including newcomers Tyler Bertuzzi, Garnet Hathaway and Dmitry Orlov. Most importantly, captain Patrice Bergeron and fellow-veteran David Krejci.
And as Bruins Cap Space recently shared on Twitter, Boston won't have very much ''wiggle room'' when it comes to the salary cap. Check it out:
(On top of the eight UFAs, Jeremy Swayman, Trent Frederic, and Jakub Zboril are restricted free agents).
Besides Krejci and Bergeron, the most important player to re-sign should be Tyler Bertuzzi, who tied Brad Marchand for the team lead in playoff points (5 goals and 5 assists).
Orlov was another massive player for the Bruins down the stretch and in the postseason (8 assists). However, recent reports suggest that the defenseman is leaning towards returning to the Capitals instead of relocating his family. Time will tell.
Connor Clifton and Tomas Nosek are also UFAs that Sweeney should be afraid to lose. Both guys are precious depth pieces, while others like Hathaway or Foligno are replaceable from youth within.
