Despite Erik Karlsson, Hampus Lindholm was one of the NHL's biggest defensive threats last season. Lindholm also had the best defensive 2-way season. He gave the Bruins a lot of offensive support and back-end help. He enters the upcoming season as the 12th-best defenseman in the NHL.
The Bruins' point production will be depleted after losing Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, meaning Lindholm will have to pick up the slack and play the way he did last year or even better. In the 2022-23 campaign, Lindholm set career highs in assists (43) and points (53), which ranked 16th among defensemen in the league. He led the NHL in plus-minus +49, which is also another career-high. Lindholm collected 17 points on the power-play, 16 of them being assists.
Much like his counterpart Charlie McAvoy, Lindholm's goal totals could use some improvement. The 6'4 defenseman has shown he can find the back of the net but unfortunately, 13 goals is not going to cut it this season.
