Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery was at a loss of words following the Bruins recent loss to the Ottawa Senators.

The third period has been terrible all year for the Boston Bruins, as they have been blowing leads in them or taking a bunch of unnecessary penalties this season.

Yesterday the bruins did something that blew the minds of a lot of people, and have not done it nearly in two decades.

Throughout the entire third period, the Boston Bruins were unable to register a single shot on Linus Ullmark, and not long into overtime Brad Tkachuck ended up scoring the game winning goal.

This goal came just 21 seconds into the overtime frame giving the Senators and Linus Ullmark the 3-2 win over the Bruins and Jeremy Swayman.

The last time the Boston Bruins were held without a shot in the third period was Decemeber 2006, according to The Boston Glove's Kevin Paul Dupont.

Jim Montgomery was at a loss of words, and has no answers why the Boston Bruins have been terrible in the third period this season.

«I don't have (an) answer,» Montgomery said.

Montgomery is going to have to figure this out and soon hopefully, as the Bruins have been horrible all season long in the third period. They currently only have five third period goals this season, and only one of them have come in the Bruins last 11 games.

«Talk about it. Figure out why,» Montgomery said. «We'll look at what we're doing sports science-wise. We'll come up with answers. Right now I don't have an answer for you.»

Jim Montgomery is not questioning if his message is getting through to the team or not, but he also does not have an answer to why it's not resonating at the moment.

«It's up for you guys to figure that out and come up with a reason,» Montgomery said. «We just weren't good enough. You guys can write what you guys think is the malaise on the team and what's going wrong. We're just not playing good enough.»

The Boston Bruins have some big problems they need to figure out soon, and with Montgomery not having answers on why the Bruins aren't responding to him may be a hint that his time is coming to an end with the Bruins.
