Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco finally broke the silence of Jim Montgomery being fired by the organization.

The Boston Bruins in the middle of the season made a big change that involved head coach Jim Montgomery being fired, and interim assistant coach Joe Sacco taking on the head coaching position, and this has presented a challenge for all parties involved.

Joe Sacco joined the Boston Bruins coaching staff a decade ago, and this year accepted the head coaching role after the Boston Bruins fired Jim Montgomery due to the team underperforming.

Sacco, who spent 13 years in the NHL took a step back to reflect on Jim Montgomery's firing from the Boston Bruins and finally broke the silence. He also took the time to talk about he feels about the change 12 games in now.

«When the change happened, obviously, it's shocking for everybody, right?» Sacco told Andy Brickley on NESN's «The Hockey Hub» podcast. «You lose a really good coach, even a better person. And then you say, 'OK, it's my job. It's my opportunity to help this team get back to where we think it should be at that particular time.' I've been with these guys for 10 years, not all these guys, but a number of them. You can't change who you are. You're gonna change certain things about you have to make harder decisions when it comes to the lineup. There's more on your plate. You have more things to deal with now than you did as an assistant, an associate coach.»

Sacco added:

«Even though it's a different role, you still have to be who you are.»

The Boston Bruins are currently 8-4-0 under Joe Sacco as head coach. The Bruins have recently overcome being outscored 13-2 in two games against the Winnipeg Jets and Seattle Kraken before putting up a dominate performance against the Vancouver Canucks, and winning a gusty game against the Flames after entering the third period being down 3-1.

The Bruins still have plenty of work to do if they want to make the playoffs and go for a run at the Stanley Cup.
