In their last game against the New York Islanders, the Bruins looked like they finally broke through on their offensive struggles as they ended up scoring 6 goals in a 6-3 win over the Islanders.
Joonas Korpisalo got the start in that game, and Joe Sacco confirmed that the only change heading into tonight's game vs the Pittsburgh Penguins is going to be that Jeremy Swayman will start in net.
It's no secret that Jeremy Swayman has been struggling really badly this year, and it showed a lot in his last start against the Vancouver Canucks. The last game Jeremy Swayman started he allowed one goal on just 14 shots where the Bruins would go on to lose 2-0 due to an empty net goal.
After signing a massive eight-year, $8.25 million deal in the off-season with the Boston Bruins, Swayman has put up some terrible numbers for the Bruins. In 16 games this season Swayman has a 6-8-2 record with a 3.16 goals against average, and a .888 save percentage.
The Bruins have higher expectations for the star goaltender, especially after since signing that massive deal in the off-season. Jeremy Swayman has already been involved in some trade conversations this year, and if things don't change there is a chance that Don Sweeney sends him packing in a trade.
If the Bruins do want to go on a Cup run this year, Jeremy Swayman needs to find his game, and find it quick. The Bruins made off-season moves to be a more competitive team, and they are worse then they were last year, and Swayman is playing a big part in that.
