Boston Bruins star forward, David Pastrnak has come out and defended Jim Montgomery after their embarrassing loss to the Hurricanes.

The Boston Bruins couldn't find any offensive rhythm in their rough 8-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night.

Head coach Jim Montgomery tried to shake things up by shuffling the forward lines, but even with the changes, the Bruins only managed to get 15 shots on goal for the entire game.

David Pastrnak doesn't think the line changes are the real issue.

«Monty's just trying to get us going,» Pastrnak told reporters after the game on NESN. «Personally, I'm good with it. I can play with anyone. Right now, it's not about who's on which line. We're just not playing well enough as a team, and that's where it starts.»

The Bruins wrapped up the first month of the season on a two-game losing streak with a 4-6-1 record, a stark contrast to their fast starts over the last couple of seasons. Last season, they began with six straight wins, and the season before, they won 10 of their first 11 games.

With a mix of new players in the lineup this season, Pastrnak emphasized that getting back on track will require teamwork.

«We'll pull through this together - that's the only way,» he said. «We need to come together, tighten up, and start finding ways to win against strong teams.»

He added,

«Sometimes you get to know each other better in tough times. We need to go on a win streak and bring up our compete level. Paying attention to the little things will help us out of this.»

The Bruins will have a chance to rebound when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon. Boston was shut out by the Flyers at TD Garden earlier in the week.
