A concerning announcement was made involving former Boston Bruins player Blake Wheeler and it's officially over.
Tonight the New York Rangers will be facing elimination, and they will be without veteran and former Boston Bruins player Blake Wheeler, as suggested by the Rangers morning skate today.
The Florida Panthers have a chance to knock the New York Rangers out of the playoffs in 6 games tonight and they would book their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals if they did so.
The Rangers might be in trouble as they are already without another depth player in Jimmy Vesey who practiced this morning but in a non-contact jersey, and now losing Blake Wheeler who brings a lot of depth, experience and leadership, the Rangers might not stand a chance against the Panthers tonight.
Blake Wheeler returned to game 4 after missing 41 games due to a leg injury, but only played just over 9 minutes in the game. Wheeler was absent from the Rangers skate this morning suggesting he more than likely will not play tonight.
Nothing is official, but all signs are pointing to the veteran to miss one of their most important games this season.
