Tyler Bertuzzi's fate with the Boston Bruins has been confirmed
With $20 Million salary cap space to play with, Don Sweeney needs to pad out the Boston Bruins lineup with the best players he can, at a good price.
One of those players was thought to be former Boston Bruins winger, Tyler Bertuzzi whom fans and players alike, loved during his short-stint here.
However, during the 2023 off-season, Bertuzzi would sign with the Boston Bruin's lifetime rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs for a 1-year $5.5 Million AAV contract.
The thought that Bertuzzi might return to Boston was pitched around the internet, including Spittin' Chiclets when they asked David Pastrnak about the idea:
But I said already, for the Boston Bruins, Original Six, it should be enough for you to come want to play here and obviously, would I love people to come and wanting to play with me? Yes, of course, but, how I said, at the end of the day, if you don't want to come to the Bruins, you know, like, you have to want to come there."
However, the future of Bertuzzi has been decided as it's been reported that the UFA is in talks with the Toronto Maple Leafs for a contract extension.
Despite the Bruins clearing the Maple Leafs in 7 games during the 1st round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he has instead decided to return to Toronto instead of Boston.
The rivalry runs deep in the blood of those who don the colors of each time and Pastrnak's comments echo the tension that continues even into the off-season.
